1. TiM Readers Forum - Part I Oct. 3, 2001

PHOENIX, Oct 2 - Here are some of the letters we have received as TiM reader reactions to our special editorial comments on the Sep. 11 terrorist attack on America:

"Collateral Damage Hits Home""Grotesque and Pathetic War,"  "Clash of Greens,"  "End of Folly, Not of World"

GEORGIA - I Agree with You 100 Percent, Bought New Olds

I agree with you 100 percent. Went out and purchased a new Oldsmobile last Friday. I am also trying to put my money where my mouth is, instead of wrapping myself in the flags. Keep up the good work.

OHIO - You Were Great!

I sent this out to everyone on my lists. You were great !!!

Thanks so much for telling the whole truth - that took a lot of guts - especially since you're one of the world's top 100 websites!!  Best Regards,

ARIZONA - Fear of Flying Unfounded

PHOENIX, Oct 2 - Here is a letter we received from Fr. X, a priest who is also a flying instructor for commercial airliners.  His full identity is known to TiM:

Dear Bob,

I just finished reading your latest e-Bulletin. I thought you should be interested in knowing that as a priest, I have been hearing from people more than in the recent past. One interesting comment which people have made consistently (in one form or other) is the fact that when God determines to take our soul, He will take it. In other words, it does not matter if we are in a car, in a plane or home safe in bed -- "When its my time, its my time." Fear of flying is unfounded. Just look at the following table (based on data from US. DOT)

Transportation Fatalities

1998

Fatalities %

Total Transportation Fatalities 43,920 100.0%

Highway                               41,480  94.4%

Aviation*                                  683   1.6%

Marine                                      908   2.1%

Railroads                                   831   1.9%

Other                                          18   0.0%

* Includes 16 accidents in U.S. involving non-U.S. registered aircraft.

The greatest risk of death is driving to and from the airport!

If it is not "your time" (as Americans like to say) then even if you are caught at ground zero, you will survive by some miracle.

The airlines are offering some incredibly low fares now too, so I don't think your "frivolity" was so great... you can fly to LA from Phoenix and back for less than the price of a day at Universal Studios.  Best regards,

Father X, Arizona

---

TiM Ed.: The TiM editor replied as follows:

Thanks for your note, Fr. X. Of course, some of these 1998 airline stats are now skewed by the fatalities at the WTC/Pentagon. But airline passengers have another thing working in their favor. These terrorists are obviously anything but stupid. They won't try to pull the same stunt twice. So all this added airport security stuff is closing the barn door after the horse is gone. Which is business as usual when it comes to federal government business.

AUSTRALIA - Who Is Really to Blame?

Hi. Good to hear from you and glad that you were able to fly safely.

I'm a bit concerned about the nature of Bush's speech where he states its going to be a long drawn out affair and if we are not with him, we are terrorists. Consider your governments past actions in regards to a tragedy:

  • The assassination of JFK, in that it allowed the concealment, tampering and cover up of evidence in a capital crime;

  • President Johnson first signed an executive order to release all evidence, and then was the signatory to lock it up for 75 years;

  • Clinton's executive order to release all documents after 25 years has been ignored;

So with this track record one can be cynical about who really is to blame for the tragedy on the 11th. My money is on those who want to impose the NWO (New World Order). Any takers? Regards,

Nikolas, Melbourne, Australia

CANADA - Jeb Bush's Sep. 7 Executive Order

On Friday, September 7, Florida Governor "Jeb" Bush signed Executive Order No. 01-261 which states, in part:

"I hereby delegate to The Adjutant General of the State of Florida all necessary authority, within approved budgetary appropriations or grants, to order members of the Florida National Guard into active service, as defined by Section 250.27, Florida Statutes, for the purpose of training to support law-enforcement personnel and emergency-management personnel in the event of civil disturbances or natural disasters and to provide training support to law-enforcement personnel and community-based organizations relating to counter drug operations. This Executive Order shall remain in full force and effect until the earlier of its revocation or June 30, 2003."

This Florida EO places the Florida National Guard, a unit of the Federal U.S. Army, in control of all Florida law enforcement and the Florida Emergency Management Agency . This took place four days before the World Trade Center disaster.

ITALY/GERMANY - Spread the Truth around the Globe

Dear Sirs, dear Mr. Djurdjevic,

We are readers of your news-bulletins living in the so-called "heart of Europe" (e.g. Bologna, Italy - München, Germany - etc.), and want hereby to encourage you in your most precious work - the most precious work is the work for truth = "what is" (according to Hans-Georg Gadamer, author of "Truth and Method"). Unfortunately,  maybe all the things you write are the truth, exposing the "other side" (which is true madness, not "only" warmongering) as sole method - a method to get more power, more control, more money (as if they could take it down with them into their graves - it's ridiculous).

Unfortunately, what applies mainly to the U.S. (the pathetic pseudo-patriotism etc.) goes also for Europe.  Anybody out there who cried on the streets for the Indians, the victims of Hiroshima/Nagasaki, etc. etc.? Basically the people over here - too much like in the U.S. - are blinded and stupefied. They became the zombies of the mass media and it's created hypes.

So, yes, we yell, spread the truth around the globe, your work is as precious as is George Orwell's, Aldous Huxley's, and all the other great thinkers and truth-speakers in the history of mankind! We, the ants of the power-mongers of "modern" society, need you so much!

That's also why we fear that you might be in danger, for the forces you fight are dangerous - they killed truth-tellers for less.  Take care, you all!  Yours faithfully,

Dr. A. Menander, Mr. U. Friedberg and many others to which we distribute your truth-letters to make them think (so we hope) - Italy, Germany

Appendix: Some words from Dave Mustaine, an American vocalist, which we read recently. We think that they express very good the feelings of some people all around the globe which did not yet switch their brains off, and (they) show that you are not alone on your quest - there are some people out there who think you like you, who appreciate the real truth, which is not the "truth" we see, read, hear each day all around us.

AUSTRALIA - God Help Us All

Thank you for sending your news report. Much appreciated. And confirms my hope that not the ENTIRE world has gone mad.

One has always to remind oneself that what we see in, and on, the media are only the reports we are meant to see. We listen to world leaders, political commentators and so-called experts and see shots of crowds that are only there because they choose to be there. Our own government is taking a ridiculously bellicose stance behind George Bush. Heaven help the USA if you have to depend on our sadly neglected defense forces! And I think half of our soldiers are girls, affirmative action having decreed that it should be so.

But our government no more represents the views of the people than any other in the so-called democratic world. Every nation with an elected government - except Switzerland- has the totally undemocratic two party system of government. The people only have a choice between Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and they were twins! So, when I hear Tony Blair sounding off I know very well that the British people are, like most Australians, being misrepresented most of the time.

Our governments have forced on us social and economic changes that have been devastating to our freedoms and our economy. Britain was steamrollered into the Common Market, the EU, the Global Economy as have other countries. No matter that people want to protect their own jobs, their own social, cultural and economic autonomy. Our governments proclaim the Global Imperative and willy-nilly we are confronted with policy decisions made in some board or conference room in some foreign country by faceless men we never voted for and who care nothing for the people of Australia.

And I believe that is the case, worldwide. My father fought in both world wars and was never in any doubt that, despite the rhetoric that claimed he was fighting for "freedom" he was actually fighting to increase the wealth of the arms manufacturers and their shareholders. And a frequent comment I hear is, "Well of course Bush needs a war. The USA has to keep its weapons industry busy."

And, looking on from the outside, it does seem to we denizens of the lower latitudes that the United States has spent the past 50 years continually finding uses for its weaponry. God help us all. And those we are told are our enemies.

INDIANA - "I Fear No Evil for Thou Art with Me"

"When Political Correctness reigns supreme, telling the truth is a Terrorist Act punishable by death."   (Dave Feustel)

A bit of ancient history that seems relevant today:

"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,

He maketh me lie down in Green Pastures.

He leadeth me besides still Waters; he restoreth my Soul.

He leadeth me in Paths of Righteousness for His Name's Sake.

Even though I walk through the Valley of The Shadow of Death,

I fear no Evil; for Thou art with me; Thy Rod and Thy Staff, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a Table before me in the Presence of Mine Enemies;

Thou anointest my Head with Oil, my Cup overflows.

Surely Goodness and Mercy shall follow me all the Days of my Life;

and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord for ever."

CANADA - Archbishop: NATO Is a Terrorist Organization

I do so deeply resent it when the daughter of my cousin in Nis(h) [TiM Ed.: Serbia] is referred to as "collateral damage" while "Western" people who are killed are "humans." She was seven years old, with bright, flashing black eyes and a gorgeous smile. She was Serb, so she is not human, only "collateral damage."  She died from an American bomb.

Let us be honest, NATO is the North Atlantic Terrorist Organization, and a prime supporter of the KLA (TiM Ed.: The Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army), also a well documented terrorist organization.

---

To which the TiM editor replied:

Which (KLA) is also supported by Osama bin Laden, by the way - with Washington's acquiescence, or worse - open support!

---

And somehow the US government will never guess that now the people of N.Y. have some idea what the people of Belgrade felt. Nor will the ever hear the words of Holy Prophet Hosea: "Ye have sown the wind, ye shall reap the tornado." Rather they will keep sowing the seeds of destruction and despair around the world, and the words of Christ: "Whatsoever ye sow, that shall ye also reap" - will never have meaning to them even when they come true.

TEXAS - How to Raise Bush's Approval Rating

Dear Bob, Good post. I comment, sarcastically, on only one of your points:

At 0113 AM 9/28/01 -0700, you wrote:

"More than once, I caught myself wondering if this kind of a war fever and euphoria also pervaded the public mood in Germany of the mid-1930s. Yet I saw tonight President Bush invoke the Islamic terrorists-to-Nazi comparison in his address to the joint session of Congress. And everybody applauded without dissension. Just as the Soviet delegates did when the Secretary General of the USSR used to deliver his speeches to the Communist Party Congresses."

Perhaps the U.S. government could raise that 90% approval rating to 95% by requiring that all Muslims wear a sleeve band when they are in public, green with a yellow crescent moon?

CANADA - American Same-mindedness Is Frightening Indeed

The American "same-mindedness" is frightening indeed. It reminds me of the beginning of the Yugoslav civil war, when Milosevic was using the Kosovo crisis to come into power. But, that was done on a much lower scale, of course. Even I took part in one of the rallies where they brought truck loads of poor Serbian souls from Kosovo to tell us about what they are going through. There were thousands of people and a lot of kids who got hyped up and ready to go fight immediately and help those poor people. That is how it started.

It must be that Hitler started his conquest the same way. You see normal, educated people, whom you consider your friends, behave the same. What do you do? You try to bring out different points of view into your exchange, but it appears that "if you are not with them, you are against them". That happened to me in Serbia with a lot of my Serbian friends, in '91, and it is happening to me now with my American friends.

I watched American patriotic commercials (that is the only name I can think of to call them), and they reminded me very much of Tito's time. Bush's "pioneer's" waving their flags, his volunteers cleaning up the ruins (dobrovoljna radna akcija), Bush himself hugging the fireman (the man of the people), ... Those were the pictures from my childhood when I myself was a proud Tito's pioneer. So, I can understand the sentiment. (Then you grow up, of course). The only difference is when we were doing it the same way, we were in a dictatorship, while the American's are in the most democratic country in the whole world displaying their free patriotic feelings. Aren't double standards just wonderful? And people do not perceive them at all.

The funny thing is, I was listening to a program on Isaac Stern last night (TiM Ed.: Sep. 27). He was explaining his personal reasons for never playing in Germany. He said how wonderfully educated people Germans were, and how many great people they gave. Having said that, he underlined how difficult it is for him to understand that, given all that, they could embrace such an awful movement which killed whoever was not just like them, for no real reason. I just wondered what he would have said of Americans today.

Best wishes, and keep your mind open!

NEW YORK - U.S. Making Old Mistakes

PHOENIX, Oct 2 - Here is a letter we received from John Collins (a pen name), a writer and a practicing lawyer from Long Island, New York, who is also a Vietnam veteran:

I would agree to you to an extent. If slogans on T-Shirts and waving flags could win wars, the US has already won. Yet beyond the veneer there is little of substance.

In a conversation with a woman pro gulf war in 1991, I warned her that the war would widen and that her children might be forced to fight it. Her response I would sent them to stay with relatives in Sicily.

More recently, a white person of some intelligence when told of the enormous mess the Middle East is and how difficult it is to know who is on what side at any given time told me the government should empty the jails and force black people to fight.

During the Yugo civil war, I asked people for the war did they realize that a nation attacked by the US has the right to respond in kind, if it can, your opinion that we are in a `nice' war notwithstanding. I received looks of disbelief.

And it is only late night talk shows with dreary eyed profs & businessmen where it is whispered that the Arab attack was one which should have been anticipated.

Frankly, the scene sounds like `1984' first we love this bin Laden give him $$$ to fight for Islam against USSR, Iraq, Yugoslavia (hey that was last year!) and now we loathe him.

The same could be said of Saddam Hussein and any of the other Arabs. (On Sadam we've now gone back and forth he's now a responsible Arab). The lack of understanding is that in these Arab states the government is secondary to the religion and the religion urges violence against the West. And due to that fact none of these little countries needs very much by way of infrastructure... Islam will survive physical destruction of the national state.

A state of mind will survive where a material state will not.

I am one of the very few Americans of non-Orthodox heritage who has studied the Byzantine (Christain) Empire. I can tell you that the US is making the same mistakes in the same sequence that led to the fall of Constantinople and the internecine religious wars in Western Europe that followed.

AUSTRALIA - Don't Give Up!

Here's another sentence that may help illustrate the ignorance of so many people. It's just my own translation from a book in the Portuguese language:

"There is an illness that attacks both the ignorant and the erudite: They deny what they don’t understand! It is an old ‘disease’. People measure everything based on their own intellect and knowledge." (by Dr. Paul Gibier, French physician and scientist, a disciple of Louis Pasteur)

Please Bob, don't give up. There are people like me out there who know the truth and read your articles with great interest. My best wishes.

TEXAS - Payback Is a Bitch

Your column today is excellent. I have been telling people who ask me if I am "shocked", etc., that they know damned well that I oppose warfare against ALL non-combatants, since I helped to organize against the Nato War Against Yugoslavia. Then I ask them where their outrage was at that time.

I have been saying for days that "NYC looks like downtown Belgrade and downtown Iraq. Payback is a bitch, eh?"  Peace and Liberty,

GERMANY - Globalists Will Not Win

Hello TiM Publishers! I am a 24 year old student living in Bremen, Germany. At the time of the bombing of Serbia (1999), I was serving in the German Bundeswehr and was applicant for Lieutenant rank. At that time, I opened my eyes and I quit my duty in the Bundeswehr.

But in these days, the death merchants and the Zionist media have shown their real faces. Hundreds of mourning ceremonies after the others in these days. All of a sudden the undeveloped Afghans have mutated to a powerful devilish might, while the NATO countries are all peaceful harmless Angels who were hurt unjustly.

I am already sick of all this media s...! When some cowards press buttons and throw bombs from F-16s and kill civilization - that is called "fight for democracy", whereas when some life sacrificing "terrorists" fight back, it is called barbarism and an attack on civilization.

I can tell you something about the Muslim civilization because I know very many people from Arab nations, and I have been to Malaysia and Indonesia myself!

The people are very guest-friendly and materialism is very unimportant, 'cause they believe in family values and God. That is real Islam. Other Muslims who are supporting the death merchants, like KLA or other peculiar organizations, may call themselves Muslim, but are NOT Muslim, 'cause in Islam corruption and prostitution is forbidden, especially political prostitution. See - now the Zionists and the God-haters have harvested the terror they have sown.

Our business English lecturer Miss Grayman, a black, said that it was merely Israel's fault that this attack happened. If USA would stop playing a servant and security guard for Israel, this would not have happened.

I feel sorry for those who were innocently killed. I pray that God bless them and send them directly to paradise. Whereas these death merchants and godless yuppies, should be fried in hell.

So Mr. Bush wants to bust Afghanistan? Hmmm...Ok! But I warn him, precious lives of many innocent American soldiers will lost. The death merchants will hide in bunkers, smoke cigars and have fun with beautiful women. That is what is going to be.

No, the globalists will not win! September 11, 2001 was the sign of God! The New World Order is going to crumble down. The struggle will brutal and gruesome. All believers in the one and only God, whether Christians or Muslims should stop battling each other and bring down the might of money and materialism!  Sincerely yours,

Ronald Eikenberg, Germany

FRANCE - We Should All Unite to Fight Islam

Hello from France! I heartily agree with your analysis of the terrorist tragedy in the US. But there is something you did not underline (was it in purpose?). How very ironic to think that, while the American government consistently sustains every Islamic regime in the world, provided there is an economic and/or political and/or geo-strategic interest to do so, even at the cost of Christian solidarity (the merciless crushing of Serbia and Iraq are two blatant and horrifying examples of this utter cynicism), it most probably was the Islamic hard-liner Bin Laden who ordered this spectacular massacre!

As a Frenchman and a Roman Catholic, I can but feel compassion for your fellow-citizens who died in the process or who are slowly dying of a most horrible death under hundreds of thousands of tons of concrete, steel, glass and dust. I can imagine the fear, the pain, the sense of powerlessness and abandonment, the despair, the screams and wails, the darkness, the mounting stench... (TiM Ed.: This comment was written on Sep. 13).

In a way, all these poor people are paying for the increasingly arrogant American imperialism. Now, who could rejoice to see America humiliated? I, for one, like her too much for that, despite her well-known defects and misdeeds. Besides, we should all unite, from now on, to fight our common, relentless and savage enemy - Islam, and to fight it everywhere Afghanistan, Sudan, Kosovo, Macedonia, etc. If only your politicians could have learned this lesson, South Manhattan might not have crumbled down entirely in vain!

(But the same, of course, cannot be said of the lost human lives, for who could put a value on them?)

ARIZONA - Irrelevant Security Stats, Useless ProceduresOct. 3, 2001

PHOENIX, Oct. 3 - We received the following reaction to our latest TiM Bulletins from Althea Dixon, a TiM reader from Arizona:

Hi, Bob.  Thanks for your memo.

Last night on TV they belabored the point that Phoenix has the highest rate of security breaches at 1.8 something or other.  They forgot to mention we've never had a plane hijacked.  I am assuming the security is much better in New York and Washington? (TiM Ed.: Or also in Boston and Newark?).

Apparently the only ones helped by the security checkpoints confiscating stuff is the hijackers.  They now have free reign with no resistance possible unless we take martial arts, and that's a big ticket price.  May be worth it someday.

If everyone on the hijacked planes had had plastic knives and knew how to use them, the kidnapping may not have been so easy for whoever did it. Regards,

Althea Dixon, Arizona

1. TiM Readers Forum - UpdateOct. 5, 2001

PHOENIX, Oct. 5 - Here some additional comments we’ve received from TiM readers on the Sep. 11 topic, starting with this release from Sean Salai of the Wabash Commentary, a conservative student journal in Indiana:

INDIANA - Academics Blame “American Oppression” for Killing 6,000

CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. (Oct. 5) —Since September 11, college administrators have banned flagpole rallies and many academics are blaming America for murdering its own citizens. "This is about the have-nots attacking the haves," one now-notorious professor at the University of New Mexico noted in justification of the recent attacks. "It's a result of American oppression."

At Wabash College, a private liberal arts school for men in Indiana, some have been even bolder. Melissa Butler of the Political Science Department, a featured speaker at a town hall meeting held here on October 2, told students that the United States is partly to blame for the attacks because "we did not attend the U.N. conference on racism and one on disarmament, and have apparently sided with Israel and other non-Arab countries."

Speech Department Chairman David Timmerman seconded Butler’s remarks. "We need to think about how we're using words and what effect they have on other people around the world," he told the capacity crowd. "We should think about how these events weren’t 'acts of war.' We were not attacked by a nation, so how can we be at war?"

Members of The Wabash Commentary, an independent student newsmagazine, were shocked by what they heard. "What other school of 850 men has purported to 'fight terrorism' by consistently implying that America is somehow at fault for the murder of its own citizens?" asked editor-in-chief Sean Salai, a junior. "This is like saying that the Jews were to blame for inciting the Holocaust."

“It isn’t just one person,” added Salai in regards to the Wabash staff. “Our college president implied at a September 13 chapel session that terrorist attacks occurred because society failed to follow Wabash's mission statement.  One of my teachers, Stephen Morillo, has more seriously dismissed bin Laden as a ‘CIA operative.’”

Public events on campus have continued to showcase professors who blame U.S. policies for causing terrorism and simplistically defend Islam without offering substantive analysis. Those who dissent often find themselves under attack: one classics professor, when he opined that it is the sole responsibility of "the religion involved to purify itself of sectarian hatred that leads to murder," was derided by History Department Chairman Morillo.

"In Christianity, too, sectarian hatred lives, fundamentalist extremism lives, and people die as a result," Morillo wrote, chiding his colleague in a faculty-wide e-mail on September 20. "Ask the victims of abortion clinic bombings or of Oklahoma City."

According to religion professor and Wabash alumnus Stephen Webb, such nasty reactions have exemplified a prevalence of "armchair generals at Wabash, those faculty who were sure that Bush would start bombing Afghanistan immediately, that we would overreact, and thus felt like they had to stand up for peace and good sense.”

"To blame America for the inhumane mass murder of 6,000 innocents—-whether the source for such thinking is Jerry Falwell or a Wabash professor—-denies basic concepts of human morality," added Salai. "The attack on America has pressured many postmodernist academics to take firmer stands on issues of right and wrong, and, despite the poor response at Wabash so far, I am confident that reasoned voices can still prevail. To that effect, the Commentary will continue to chronicle every anti-American statement made on this campus."

OHIO - Megalomanic Bush Declared War on Entire Planet!?

To the editor:

Ever since the attack on September11, I have been contemplating a letter to the editor. The problem is saying something comprehensible without thousands of words of historical background information. That history remains vital, but the President s speech on Sept. 20 provided an unprecedented opportunity for public awareness.

To my knowledge, at no time in recorded history has anyone with any credibility declared war on the entire planet. No one, not Hitler or Stalin or anyone else, has been so overcome by megalomania as to tell the world "Obey me or die" as George W. Bush has done. He has found his place in history, by his utterances if not by his deeds. That the American people give any credence to such insane ranting is almost beyond comprehension.

A "Department for the Annihilation of Freedom" has been created, in order to protect freedom. Officially known as the "Department for Homeland Security", it is in actuality a new and enhanced "state secret police", also known as "Gestapo". Homeland security is the duty of the militia. The military has only one legitimate function, the protection of our borders. They have not been allowed to do that job. Instead of minding our business here at home, they have been sent to torment others around the world.

It has been declared to be a war to wipe out terrorism. What are its chances of success, and when will it end? The answers are, in order, "zero" and "never". A "terrorist" is defined as anyone who disagrees with "the king of the world", and it only takes one other living human on the planet to keep the endless war going.

Terrorism has been with us forever, as a glimpse at history will reveal. State-sponsored terrorism is the worst sort: it spreads the guilt among the innocent inhabitants of the country. The United States has been engaged in this activity for decades, both around the world and here at home. Murder and oppression is a poor way to win friends. A drastic change of policy is needed if we are to be safe and free.

A great tragedy has befallen us. Let us strive with all our might to not make it worse by attacking the innocent. Never go to war when you are angry, never persecute, or prosecute, without all the facts, without taking the time and making the effort to find the best course of action. Never give up freedom for security, you will have neither.

Luke Albert Herda, Ohio

(This letter was also published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on Oct. 2)

SPAIN - U.S. Should Spread Real Democracy, Welfare and Justice

Dear Bob, and "Truth in Media" team,

I want to thank you for the excellent work you are doing.  Congratulations!

I think that nowadays, after the horrible facts of September 11 in NY, is necessary, more than ever, to keep people informed, and to fight against propaganda of war, and hysteria, and racist behaviors. The U.S. government reaction to beat the terrorists should be to spread democracy (the real one), welfare, justice (impeding Sharon to continue with the genocide of Palestinians, for example), and then to hunt and prosecute the terrorist groups.

Unfortunately it looks that they are going in the wrong direction, namely; continuing with the aggressive international politics of bombs and collateral damage, supporting dictatorships, as in Pakistan, supporting Israeli aggressions and crimes to unarmed people, and contributing to the growth of fanaticism in the world.

It is a pity, because this way the situation only can get worse.  I will continue reading your news. With best wishes.

4. Bushwhacked: Bush Sr.’s bin Laden ConnectionOct. 3, 2001

WASHINGTON, Sep. 28 - “Something’s rotten in the state of Denmark,” goes the oft-quoted old Shakespearean line.  Well, the state of Denmark no longer figures as a global trendsetter, but the same one-liner could be applied to some of the former leaders of our United States of America.  If in doubt just check out the following release sent out by the Judicial Watch, a Washington-based public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse:

WALL STREET JOURNAL: BUSH SR. IN BUSINESS WITH BIN LADEN FAMILY CONGLOMERATE THROUGH CARLYLE GROUP

(BIN LADEN) FAMILY HAD RENOUNCED TIES TO TERRORIST SON, BUT FAMILY STILL UNDER FBI INVESTIGATION

FATHER OF PRESIDENT SHOULD PULL OUT OF INTERNATIONAL CONSULTING FIRM

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, reacted with disbelief to The Wall Street Journal report of yesterday that George H.W. Bush, the father of President Bush, works for the bin Laden family business in Saudi Arabia through the Carlyle Group, an international consulting firm.  The senior Bush had met with the bin Laden family at least twice. (Other top Republicans are also associated with the Carlyle group, such as former Secretary of State James A. Baker.)

TiM Ed.: The Carlyle Group is also a Pentagon defense contractor.  In fact, here’s what the Journal said about it:

If the U.S. boosts defense spending in its quest to stop Osama bin Laden's alleged terrorist activities, there may be one unexpected beneficiary: Mr. Bin Laden's family.  Among its far-flung business interests, the well-heeled Saudi Arabian clan -- which says it is estranged from Osama -- is an investor in a fund established by Carlyle Group, a well-connected Washington merchant bank specializing in buyouts of defense and aerospace companies.

Through this investment and its ties to Saudi royalty, the bin Laden family has become acquainted with some of the biggest names in the Republican Party. In recent years, former President Bush, ex-Secretary of State James Baker and ex-Secretary of Defense Frank Carlucci have made the pilgrimage to the bin Laden family's headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Bush makes speeches on behalf of Carlyle Group and is senior adviser to its Asian Partners fund, while Mr. Baker is its senior counselor. Mr. Carlucci is the group's chairman.”

You can try to check out the Carlyle web site at http://www.thecarlylegroup.com, but get ready for a message “this site is being redesigned.”  And that’s it!  Oh, except that you will also be told that, “The Carlyle Group does not provide investment or other services to the general public.”  Weird, huh?.

Nor is former President Bush the only former White House occupant to have rubbed shoulders and done a little business with the bin Laden’s.  Jimmy Carter also did it, according to the Journal:

“Former President Carter met with 10 of Osama's brothers early in 2000 on a fund-raising trip for the Carter Center in Atlanta. According to John Hardman, executive director of the center, the brothers told Mr. Carter that Osama was completely removed from the family. After Mr. Carter and his wife followed up with breakfast with Bakr bin Laden in New York in September 2000, the bin Laden family gave $200,000 to the center. "We don't have any reason to think there's a connection" between Osama and the rest of the family, Mr. Hardman says.”

Meanwhile, back to the Judicial Watch’s release:

The terrorist leader Osama bin Laden had supposedly been “disowned” by his family, which runs a multi-billion dollar business in Saudi Arabia and is a major investor in the senior Bush’s firm. Other reports have questioned, though, whether members of his Saudi family have truly cut off Osama bin Laden. Indeed, the Journal also reported yesterday that the FBI has subpoenaed the bin Laden family business’s bank records.

Judicial Watch earlier this year had strongly criticized President Bush’s father’s association with the Carlyle Group, pointing out in a March 5 statement that it was a “conflict of interest (which) could cause problems for America’s foreign policy in Middle East and Asia.” Judicial Watch called for the senior Bush to resign from the firm then.

“This conflict of interest has now turned into a scandal. The idea of the President’s father, an ex-president himself, doing business with a company under investigation by the FBI in the terror attacks of September 11 is horrible. President Bush should not ask, but demand, that his father pull out of the Carlyle Group,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

“This has the potential of making ‘Billygate’ (Jimmy Carter’s brother’s dealings with Libya) look like small potatoes,” added Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

TiM Ed.: So that’s a fine mess we’ve got on our hands.  No wonder some of our readers have written to us saying they feel “Bushwhacked.”

5. TiM Readers Forum - Part II Oct. 12, 2001

NEW YORK - Why Should God Bless America?

NEW YORK, Oct. 9 - We received the following feedback from Peter Budzilovich, a TiM reader from New York:

Why should God bless America if America threw God out of its schools, from its public places, when we recognize homosexuality as an "alternative lifestyle," when anti-American forces, using the 1st Amendment, are fighting God, tooth and nail, everywhere?

Before we start writing anthems about "God Bless America," we MUST repair our ways, our ungodly attitude toward Him!”

MARYLAND - God to Wipe Out Mohammedanism?

MARYLAND, Oct. 7 - We received the following feedback from Bela Szepesi, a TiM reader from Maryland:

“Dear Bob, There you go again on an analysis that uses dubious facts and even more dubious logic. Venik, if I remember right, is the same source who reported over 100 NATO planes down in Yugoslavia. Only, nobody could find them. Not one.

Terrorism against the Serbs? Definitely. Effective? Yes. Made sense in the long run? NO.

The Ukranian govt admits that they were using SAMs in the area, though they say that those were out of range. Reminds me of the NATO missile that hit Sofia. Accidents do happen. Not all screw ups are planned.

As for Sharon's remarks, I agree with him. He was reacting to Bush's pledge to push for a "Palestinian State." The problem is that the Muslims understand a "Palestinian State" to go to the sea and obliterate present-day Israel. And the Jews face not merely the Palestinians, but the entire Arab world, in fact the entire Islamic world as an enemy. So do we. As American bombs are falling on Afghanistan, more and more Muslims are declaring their hatred for the United States.

It will be clear to you someday what I say today: God has had enough of the depredations of the Mohammedan States, and the persecution of His people by Muslims, and is going to act to wipe out Mohammedanism. Just wait and see. I expect a civil war in Pakistan, and you read enough to know why. Then I expect Libya to attack Rome.

There was a reason why God did not let the Apostles preach to the Arabs and why the Gospel was not translated into Arabic for 600 years. VTY,”

PENNSYLVANIA - Don’t Listen to Pastor Larry

PENNSYLVANIA, Oct. 7 - We received the following feedback from Celeste (last name withheld but known to TiM), a TiM reader from Pennsylvania:

“Dear Bob, I have to tell you what I heard in a conversation with a co-worker just day's after Sept. 11 (the week after  Sep. 17).

Of course, the topic of discussion at work was what happened in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania.  A co-worker of mine was discussing the recent events when I happened to enter the room.  I stopped to listen briefly and had to inject my thoughts.  " They hate us because of our support for Israel, their mortal enemy.  They hate us because we, like them, have killed innocent men, women and children in their back yards!", I replied.

Her response to me was.... Oh no, Pastor Larry (a Methodist minister) talked about that in church and he said, " We cannot turn our backs on Israel, they are the chosen people.  If we turn our backs on them, God will turn his back on us."

I looked at her in disbelief and shook my head.  "What God do you worship?  I cannot believe God would turn his back on me... and I don't believe what you just said.  Pastor Larry should get his facts straight before making such a ridiculous statement.  Shame on him."  I left the room.  We have not discussed it since.

I couldn't help but recall the show I had seen on TV the Saturday following the attack on Sept. 11.  It was Peter Jennings in New York talking with children about the recent events.  Just four days later.  Even the children asked..."Why do they hate us?"  "What did we do to them to cause this?"

Hmmm... too bad no one gave them a straight answer.  Hope they don't listen to Pastor Larry!”

CALIFORNIA - America Deserves Better (Media)

CALIFORNIA, Oct. 7 - We received the following feedback from Helen French, a TiM reader from California, who sounded off against the establishment media’s news reporting:

“Dear Bob, America deserves better (media), the world deserves better!  If we just keep the free flow of TRUTH we will make progress.  Our Lord told us to fight the good fight and this is surely what you are doing.  I respect your work and it is a comfort in these unstable times to trust a journalist.  Most sincerely,”

CANADA - Anti-Globalist Revolution Has Started

CANADA, Oct. 6 - We received the following feedback from Dan Janjic, a TiM reader from Canada:

“Dear Bob, again thank you for your TiM publications, it is so much needed in these times of global madness. I have red your readers’ comments, and would like to add a few.

TiM’s are multiplying like amebas and their networks are growing, and soon they will become a threat to Western (mainly American) oppressive regimes. TiM’s will then be probably banned as pro-terrorist organizations with all the labels and "background histories" set up by the CNN and the likes.

What the rich and power hungry do not realize is that the anti-globalist revolution has started, that this is the beginning of the end of their monstrous dreams and most importantly that nothing can stop it.

Clinton’s, Blair’s, Solana’s, Albright’s and other with similarly sick minds are well aware of the crimes that they have committed. They regularly go to their churches (Catholic, Protestant, Anglican, Synagogues) and "pray" for us.  I just wonder; how are they going to face their Gods once they are called up to report up there?

Dan Janjic, Toronto, Canada

PS. Bob, if you decide to put this on your list of reader's comments, leave my name with it.  As much as we are peaceful citizens (though we fight for the truth and freedom - the cornerstones of "democracy"), we may be still listed as potential terrorists, because as that air head George (Bush) said: "Who is not with us (US?) is against us." Have a nice day!

TEXAS - Not Going to War for the NWO

HOUSTON, Oct. 7 - We received the following feedback from John Kelinske, a TiM reader from Houston, Texas:

“Bob, I am NOT going to war, against Serbs, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Jews, Russians, Chinese, etc., or ANYONE else for the NWO.  And they can ALL join arms and take a flying leap head-first onto a pile of sharp rocks, and please tell them for me I said so.”

JAPAN - Our Leaders Reflect Our Faults

JAPAN, Oct. 12 - We received the following feedback from A.S., a TiM reader from Japan, who asked that the name not be used, but whose identity is known to TiM:

“Those who willingly believe what any government, politician, religious leader, or media tells us, and who naively refuse to use their faculties of reason, are equally to blame for the audacity and impunity with which the controlling elite operate.  The low quality of our so-called leaders is a direct reflection of what the public or common man is.  To change and challenge the outrageous world situation, we need to change and challenge our own shortcomings.  Unless we control our own thoughts, we allow others to control them.”

TEXAS - TiM: Escape from Sickening Drumbeat of Spin Doctors

HOUSTON, Oct. 11 - We received the following feedback from L.R., a TiM reader from Texas, who asked that the name not be used, but whose identity is known to TiM:

“Thank you for providing an escape from the sickening drumbeat of the spin doctors. It's really getting embarrassing watching these guys try to look intelligent as they contradict themselves each hour and sound like babbling fools. There is so little substance to what the media today has to offer.

Guess I'll have to get batteries for my short wave radio to hear what's really going on in the world. If I hear of one more "isolated incident" I think I'll get sick.

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR GREAT WORK !!!”

GERMANY - Abyss of Mankind

GERMANY, Oct. 11 - We received the following feedback from Ronald Eikenberg, a TiM reader from Germany, who used to serve in the German army:

“Hello Mr. Djurdjevic! So here we go again. Like two years ago, once again, the NATO bullies have picked a sore underdog country to bully.  Once again, the richest nations have ganged up on one of the poorest countries on Earth. Mega million-dollar cruise missiles against starving people and naked mountains.

So we have similar players. Just as NATO did in Kosovo, playing the air force role, whereas the (Afghan) Northern Alliance takes over the part of the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army).

At my college site in Germany, students are cheering the bombings of starving children.  On the other hand, when an old woman gets robbed on the street, these youngsters tend to look away. So bold are the NWO jacks.  The Taliban will fight to the last breath because they have got something which we in the decadent West do not have, a big heart!

I see that the US authorities have only thin evidence on Osama bin Laden's fault re. the 11th September. But never mind, because the Globalists fabricate the rest. And if that is not enough, they start throwing bombs at a poor nation that cannot even defend itself (for me that is like beating up a cripple).

Hmmmm... that is what I call abyss.

Please tell me Mr. Djurdjevic!  What kind of a sh… planet is this? Where is honor, where is honesty, where is sacrifice? I think this is the last stage of humanity. The Bible predicted that short before the "End of time," the people would become like they are today - cowards, selfish and hating God. I want to cry when I think about it.  Sincerely yours,”

Ronald Eikenberg, Germany

WYOMING - Flag Fun

WYOMING, Oct. 3 - We received the following feedback from John Hanks, a TiM reader from Wyoming:

“My Vietnam Vet neighbor got so mad at me for not flying the flag that he put one up on the peak of our duplex with most of it hanging from my side.  So, I've surrendered.  I have a white flag hanging on a pole from my side.  (For what it's worth, I'm a Vietnam War era vet myself.)  I keep telling him that it wasn't terrorism which started World War I, but the reaction of a world of morons to terrorism that started it.”
